SculpSure Q & A

What is SculpSure?

SculpSure is an innovative laser body contouring treatment created by the medical laser specialists at CynoSure®. SculpSure is a fat-removal system that is FDA-approved to target fat on nearly every trouble spot on your body including your:

  • Belly
  • Love handles
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Double chin

Many of these areas are slow to reduce when you change your diet and exercise habits, which can be very frustrating, especially when you’ve been working hard to achieve your weight loss goals. In clinical trials, each SculpSure session destroyed up to 24%* of the targeted fat.

How does SculpSure work?

SculpSure has a four-headed applicator system that can be configured to fit your body exactly. The applicators deliver a special wavelength of laser energy that bypasses your skin and directly targets your subcutaneous fat. The energy heats your fat cells, damaging them beyond repair.

Over several weeks, your body processes the damaged cells and removes them from your body with other waste products.

What happens during a SculpSure appointment?

Your SculpSure treatment takes only about 25 minutes. You sit in a comfortable chair, and Dr. Chengelis attaches the applicator to your body. Then you rest, read, nap, or catch up on your emails while the lasers zap your fat.

SculpSure includes a cooling device that regulates the temperature of your skin to ensure your comfort. While you might notice a warming sensation, SculpSure treatments aren’t painful. Some patients describe it as feeling like a hot stone massage.

What should I expect during recovery?

One of the many benefits of SculpSure is that you don’t need any downtime to recover from your treatment. You can go straight back to your regular activities after your treatment, although you’re advised to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after you have SculpSure.

You should start to see results six weeks after your treatment, with the full results becoming noticeable within 12 weeks.

How many SculpSure treatments do I need?

Dr. Chengelis provides a comprehensive exam and consultation before recommending SculpSure treatments. Once he understands your needs and expectations, he suggests a customized series of procedures. If you have multiple treatments, you need to wait 6-8 weeks between each session.
